A PERFECT DAY-OUT!

BEST PICNIC WINES

Light, refreshing & well-balanced wines are your best friend when choosing the perfect wine for your next picnic. They’re the easiest to pair with snack foods and let it be known, our whole range of Penfolds is food-friendly. The Penfolds Bin 311 Chardonnay will also be on the lighter side.

START SENSIBLE

The key to an awesome picnic spread is its vessel. Do we go for bread or crackers? For wine, keep it light, it doesn't really matter and the fun should be in the toppings. The lighter the wine, the lighter the bread.

If you are going for a sweeter choice, like our Brown Brothers Sparkling Moscato Rose, then a brioche-based dessert would be a great pairing.

SWEET AND SAVORY

For something sweet, a good pairing would be fruits! Berries, melons, peaches, and grapes are great choices when pairing with light, fresh and acidic wines. 19 Crimes Pinot Noir in particular, will go great with strawberries. Other popular choices for sweet food include chocolates. They pair excellently well with red wines, in particular our Kay Brothers Basket Pressed Grenache.

For something savory, cheese, cheese, and cheese! Two types of cheese are plenty, so try first deciding between soft, hard, white, and blue cheeses. A soft cheese lover? Go for Brie or Camembert. They go excellently with a Rose or something sparkly, of, better yet, have them with both, with our sparkling Rawson's Retreat Merlot. Chardonnays and Sauvignon Blancs are also suited to light hard cheeses, with cheddar being an excellent go-to.
